A big box store is closing, and preparations are underway for the new Chik-fil-A at Brentwood Pointe.

An employee of Prairie Contractors, the general contractor for the Chik-fil-A to be built in Brentwood this spring, said demolition of the former Macaroni Grill is about a week or week and a half away. Utilities to the building were being disconnected on Thursday. Brentwood officials OK’d the restaurant in January.

Also at the Brentwood Pointe, OfficeMax is closing on May 16. The closing is a result of OfficeMax being absorbed by Office Depot an employee said. Customers are being directed to the Office Depot on Big Bend, in Richmond Heights. (Office Depot and Staples are in talks to combine, according to a Feb. 2 article in the Wall Street Journal.)
