Maddie the support dog that went missing in October was found Thursday, said Jann Henningsen, the neighbor who first reported it was missing.

Apparently, a woman walking by where Maddie lived picked her up, Henningsen said. According to the woman’s mother, the woman landed in jail
(reason unknown) and when her mother went to the woman’s house she found Maddie, although she didn’t know who Maddie belonged to until she found Maddie’s collar among the woman possessions.

She called Karen Newman, Maddie’s owner, yesterday, and Maddie is now home.

The dog is deaf. It disappeared in early October.

  1. The woman who took Maddie reportedly lived in South city but at least temporarily was also living in Jennings with her mother. What was she doing walking around in Maplewood? I suspect she “knows” someone in the neighborhood that she was “visiting” and swiped Maddie when the opportunity presented itself. Now she’s in jail for other unknown offense(s). The mother won’t talk to the media, refused the $200 reward, so obviously doesn’t want further attention while her daughter is incarcerated. At least she promptly did the right thing and notified Maddie’s owner after finding her collar in a box. From coverage on KMOV at 4 p.m (now on KMOV.com) Maddie appears in good shape & spirits after six weeks as does the look-a-like puppy her owners got assuming they’d never see Maddie again. A happy ending… hurray!!

    • thank you Frank. it SHOULD be a felony. people do not know (or realize how close in proximity this is really) that trainers for “dog fighting” use any dog as bait to sharpen the fight and kill skills of their dogs. incentive for A LOT of people is good money to supply stolen dogs. 000h. i need aleave to help with subject aversion headache.
