Sando Shack has opened at at 7376 Manchester, the prominent Maplewood corner of Manchester Road and Sutton Boulevard. Boardwalk Waffles, which closed almost two years ago, was the last tenant in the spot.
St. Louis magazine reports that Sando Shack “offers the the katsu sando—a crispy, panko-breaded pork or chicken cutlet served on pillowy-soft milk bread (shokupan).” Also a variety of rice bowls. For dessert, there’s “taiyaki—fish-shaped waffles filled with red bean paste, Nutella, and ice cream.”
St. Louis Magazine has also reviewed Gol Bowl, which opened recently in the former Tapped restaurant location, 7278 Manchester Road.
Though Gol Bowl is casual, “It does not sacrifice an iota of quality in its food. Like the lamb curry, the chloe bhature, or chickpea curry with flatbread, has the sort of slow-cooking, from-scratch care you’d expect from a higher-end restaurant,” St. Louis Magazine reports.
The Post has added a back door that faces the parking lot in the back, which includes a garage-style door that can be opened in good weather.

To clarify: The Gol Bowl in the Loop is fast casual. However, the new Maplewood location is sit down with table service; plus, they will eventually have a liquor license and bar.
Hahaha I am staring directly at you in that Sando Shack interior pic because I was thinking, “I bet that’s the 40 South News guy!”
